Although this roleplay is modern, our story begins back when the first conquistadors set foot in North America. With the first settlements there came sheep and there came new parasites.
Now back then the wolves inhabited every mile of the continent and there were even some with dire lineage in the far northern, icy areas. The coyotes, foxes, and wolves alike were quickly disliked by the colonists for eating their livestock, sheep in particular.
The worms evolved.
Soon there was an epidemic, almost all the canines were infected and none knew how to deal with The Hunger. Humans were attacked and infected themselves, sprouting the roots for the popular werewolf and vampire tales. Even Salem witch hunts were the cause of Seamworms.
The northern group of dires heard of this chaos and traveled South, their alpha, Tezcacoatl, made an alliance with one of the only wolf packs left uninfected and their alpha Bane the great. Together they fought and suppressed the epidemic. But disagreements arose. Bane believed that the hosts should all be eliminated whilst Tezcocoatl believed that they should be helped and trained. Following that belief the dire's never killed a host unless there was no other option, and eventually their numbers decreased and what remained of the pack were all infected.
Together they radiated their packs traditions to fit their new lifestyle and became the Sycophants, and because of them the battle was won and now only a select few outside of the Sycophant and Baneblood pack knows of it's very existence. Will the peace last? Or will the grand-daughter of Tezcocoatl and the great-great-great-great-great grandson of Bane the Great follow in their ancestors footsteps?
